Tackling climate change 'can create opportunities'
Making an effort to tackle climate change can create opportunities for businesses, according to an expert.
The ICT project director of the Climate Group, Molly Webb, stated that the issue can help firms to both aid the environment and also reduce costs related to energy consumption.
She explained that a popular way of improving a company's efficiency was to use green IT, which can involve making data centres more efficient.
However, she added: "What is harder sometimes for people closest to the environmental issues in a company to think about is what this strategically means for their business going forward.
"But I think that's starting to change and it's always good to demonstrate and give companies the numbers to illustrate where the most emissions could be reduced and what the barriers are and how to overcome them."
Bell Micro recently released a study which found that over two-thirds of businesses feel that the introduction of green IT policies will reduce their energy bills.
